It would be a terrible shame if London wins the IOC bid...
Seriously I feel that their presence doesn’t really help the voting process. At the end of the day, it’s still up to the IOC committee to make the vote and I believe that these committee members would not be swayed even if the Queen from Britain comes…. in short who cares? The decision has already been sealed in their minds and I doubt that anything would ever change their decisions. (*This statement is made with the full intention that these IOC members are of upright integrity and morals, the writer would withdraw his sentence if discovered that they have been corrupted and bribed *)
And seriously why must David Beckham always bring his annoying other half miss posh everywhere he goes? She’s like an irritating piece of used chewing gum that just sticks on one’s shoes all the time, no matter how much you try to get rid of it, it just sticks there…you get my drift… but I will leave that to another entry for the moment….and please getting Beatrice who the hell…? and Adrain who…? to be the local ambassadors for the British Bid is one of the silliest things that they have ever done. I mean seriously aren’t there better candidates to choose from?
Take a lesson from France; they got very credible local ambassadors such as the dean of NUS and NTU, chairman of the Arts Council, famous lawyer Anamah Tan, Council Secretary of Singapore Institute of International Affairs and many others, they are all people of great importance and social standing who are well known locally and internationally and I believe that France made all the right moves to win the people of Singapore. I am a firm supporter for the France bid, in fact let me suggest to them to add my name into that list, Eugene Tan (Associate Blogger, Professor of Professional Blogging, Singapore).
I understand that Singapore is deprived from international fame and now is the time , Singapore is in the spotlight and we should all rise to the occasion and ride on our current popularity and world air time and try our best to put Singapore on the world stage, the question is are we overdoing it? There is a clear distinction and a thin line between pride and humility. On one hand we should be proud, take pride and make conscientious effort to make this event a success, but another hand if we overdo it we would just put ourselves to shame and people might be convinced that we are indeed suffering from a deadly syndrome or should I say an incurable personality disorder – the ‘kiasuism’ trait.
I mean we are quite well known around the globe for our famed trait. This trait could be easily defined as wanting the best of everything even if that means taking advantage of the situation. I totally believe that we should claim credit for the event as we did put in a lot of effort and preparation to make this event world class however we should also balance humility in a sense be humble and let our actions do the talking. Eventually others would recognise the hospitality and friendliness of the Singaporean and they would be impressed and want to visit our country again. We do not need to blow our trumpet and make a repeat broadcast about the IOC session every 5 minutes on our national news channel or even splash it on every papers headline around the island. Everybody knows. Life still goes on with or without the IOC, besides we should be reporting on more important stuff like the G08 summit or even news more important to us.
On an ending note, I think Singapore is doing an excellent job and I am proud to be associated with IOC session, I believe we all are. To top the icing of the cake would be France taking home the winning bid. I think France is the place to be in 2012 and I wish France the best in its mission. I would repeat it again; it would be a terrible shame if London wins the bid.
How can we let a bunch of English who has a tenancy to throw hissy-fits all the time host such an important and prestigious event? Evidence of their childish behaviour can be clearly seen when they took a dig at France stadium saying that the stadium is not world class. France scored brownie points when they retorted that this is a sporting competition and they are all friends. France would not belittle others as all cities are beautiful but they think that France bid is the best. What a gentleman. What are we waiting for? Give the man a tiger except that the tiger is the bid for the Olympics… he totally deserves it. France the whole of Singapore is behind you.

Well the french hate the Brits and vice versa. Both parties have been at loggerheads even before the first croissant was baked.
Take President Chirac's latest pot shot at the brits for instance. His poke at british lack of culinary excellence underline French opinion across the board.
And besides, frenchys are known to be really full of themselves... ask around. Freaking French.
Screw them, GO THE BRITS!
I have to disagree!
Firstly, the French prides itself for its culinary excellence and having tasted both French and English food, I have to agree the English food is sub-standard. I mean to each his own but I feel President Chirac was just stating a fact and not a sweeping statement.
Secondly, the French people are just confident and sure of themselves. I wouldn’t use the word 'full of themselves' as this is a perception thing, there is nothing concrete about it. At least they are not as dumb as the Brit youths that go around engaging in something so demeaning and stupid called 'Happy Slapping'. They would be endangering the tourist's safety. It would be a rude culture shock having someone 'slapping' you as a welcome gesture.
Lastly, I don’t think that the Brits value fair play as much as the other host cities. They have formed an open alliance with Madrid in the case when one city is kicked out in the preliminary round, the other team would fully endorse the remaining city in its bid. This is called cheating and unfair. I see this as bribery and I feel that the IOC should intervene. This is undermining the spirit and values of the game, one of which if fair play and sportsmanship. So even if London wins, there is nothing much to really boast of. There is no pride in winning anyway.
France should win and screw the Brits!
