Incident@

When you accidentally damaged someone’s badminton racket, do you apologise or try shifting the blame to someone else?

I simply can’t understand how come a particular colleague at the swimming pool is so IRRESPONISBLE.

Obviously he was the one who damaged my badminton racket but when I questioned him he shifted the blame to someone else. So typical of him, I mean this isn’t the first time he tried shifting blames. He said that the racket was already spoilt when he was holding onto it. Bullshit, he thinks I am stupid or what.

Than he goes on to say that another guy was the one who spoilt my racket and the blame shouldn’t be on him. But the point was that he did hold on to my badminton racket and if it was spoilt before he touched it, why didn’t he informed me? He couldn’t give me a satisfactory answer.

Than he went on to insult my intelligence and said that I didn’t play badminton often as I should know that the badminton strings should be changed frequently and it was meant to be spoilt. He was trying to shift the blame from himself to another person and than to me. Is it my freaking fault for not changing my badminton strings? Hello?

The funny thing was that he told me it wasn’t a big deal and I SHOULD TAKE IT LIGHTLY. Easy for him to say, I mean honestly when he speaks shit just comes falling out of his gap.

If I would have done the same thing to his tennis racket, how would he have reacted?

The issue isn’t about changing the badminton racket, but taking ownership for your actions.

If you do something wrong, at least show some concern and apologise or even offer to change and replace my racket. I honestly wouldn’t have made him change my badminton strings, but the thing that infuriated me was is indifference and lack of responsibility. I can’t tolerate such bad attitude.

He later offered an insincere apology which I accepted as I was tired of all the excuses he came up with.

I don’t want to pursue this any further. I just have to learn to accept that some people are just like that. In life we have to deal with all sort of people and I just have to learn to be understanding and accept people for their flaws.

I do have my own flaws too, and change takes time. I am still praying and asking God to help me submit all things to him in prayer. Sometimes we just have to release all these hurt to God and allow him to take it and mould us to become better people. I also learn to see things from another perspective.

In every circumstance and situation, there is a lesson to be learnt. I take this as a positive way for me to improve in my dealings with people.
